Freqently Asked Questions

Is the house haunted ?
Numerous accounts gathered over the years describe unexplained experiences,
such as a sensation of something brushing against the legs or curtains moving all on
their own. Several mediums and other individuals sensitive to such phenomena have noted unusual presences during their visits.
That said, these experiences are personal and have never been conclusively
verified. If you feel something unusual, feel free to bring it up with the staff!
Is there an age limit for visiting the exhibition ?
No, all ages are welcome. Children 5 and under enter free of charge. For ages 6 and
up, the student rate applies.
Our exhibitions are not designed specifically for children, but they are accessible to
the whole family. Our staff is trained to assist visitors of all ages.
Do I need to make a reservation ?
A guided tour of the exhibition does not require a reservation.
A reservation is required for:
- Workshops and activities
- Archival research
- Groups (10 people or more)
- English tea
To make a reservation, contact us at reservations@colbycurtis.ca
How do the guided tours work ?
Guides are on site during opening hours to welcome you and show you around the
house and the exhibitions. The guided tour is included in the admission ticket.
How long do the guided tours last ?
For a guided tour of the exhibitions, it is recommended to reserve about an hour of
your time. You can extend your visit by strolling through the garden and exploring the
historic Carrollcroft estate, or take a shorter tour depending on your interests.
Is the exposition accessible to those with limited mobility ?
Our building, the Carrollcroft Villa built in 1859, is not universally accessible due to
the lack of an access ramp and elevator. The main entrance has outdoor stairs, and
the second floor is accessible only by stairs.
Most of our permanent exhibition is
located on the ground floor, but the temporary exhibition is entirely on the second
floor.
Is the exhibition accessible to strollers ?
The exhibition rooms are too small for strollers. We recommend leaving your stroller at the entrance and carrying your child or walking hand-in-hand with them.
Is it possible to make a group reservation ?
Yes! By emailing education@colbycurtis.ca or by calling the museum at 819-876-
