Square Piano, mid-19th century

This square piano was donated to the Stanstead Historical Society in 1980. It was built by Lemuel Gilbert (1839-1863), one of the most important piano makers of the United States. Gilbert never produced a large volume of instruments, which is why his pianos, commercialized as Boudoir pianos, are extremely rare today. Unknown donor, around 1980.
