Home and Hearth

November 30th – December 17th 2015

A native of Ottawa, Ann Mitchell is an award-winning artist whose paintings are featured in collections throughout Canada and the Eastern United States. She has participated in a number of international competitions as well as exhibitions of Naïve Art. This exhibition brings together a selection of Mitchell’s paintings of family homes executed over a period of more than thirty years, from the beginning of her artistic career in the late nineteen seventies until the present day. The selection of her work presented in this exhibition is exceptional in that it focuses on landscapes and homes in Stanstead County and the surrounding Eastern Townships. Paintings representing Mitchell and her family with various homes they inhabited over the years (in such places as New Canann, Connecticut, and County Kerry, Ireland) have been added to give a sense of the artist’s personal commitment to her work.
