This set includes two chairs with balloon-shaped backs and cabriole-style legs. Historically, these chairs were located next to each other in a parlour, the design distinguishing between the one destined for men and the one for women. The men’s chair is narrower, its armrests are taller and the seat is higher; conversely, the women’s chair is wider, its armrests are smaller and the seat is lower, which gives more space to the fullness of the bustle dresses of the time.
